Education Voters Statewide "Call to Action" - Wednesday Jan. 25th

In early February, the Governor will give his 2012-2013 Budget Address which will include his priorities for the next fiscal year.  Last year, funding for Public Education received over $900 million in budget cuts.  These cuts lead to the closure of school buildings, the elimination of programs proven to be successful such as full-day kindergarten and tutoring and the removal of many public school employees.   Parents and teachers understand that local school districts are unable to handle additional cuts.  We must invest in our future and that means investing in our students and our public schools.

With the current economic situation, our legislators will have to make hard decisions, but we must encourage them to make the RIGHT ones.  INVESTING in education is the RIGHT decision.

On January 25th, Education Voters, along with other organization across the state, will be hosting a Statewide "Call" to Action for Public Education.  We are asking parents, teachers and community members to call elected officials and tell them to fight to restore funding/prevent cuts and to ask legislators to tell their House and Senate leaders to fight for our public schools throughout the budget process.

Click HERE to pledge that you will take a few minutes on Wednesday, January 25th to call your legislators and the Governor and tell them that investing in public education is a critical priority for PA.

Click HERE  for a “Call” to Action guide that includes information on how to look up your legislator, talking points on the importance of public education and a guide on how to call legislators.  After your call, take a few minutes to tell us how your call wentThis part is very important; help us close the loop and get the biggest impact out of your call.

Please FORWARD this email to others and encourage them to be the voice of our most precious resources Pennsylvania has – our students.
