What is Common Enrollment (or Universal Enrollment) and how will it affect students and schools in Philadelphia?
PLEASE JOIN the Education Law Center and Education Voters of Pennsylvania for an event hosted by the Temple University College of Education.
Many urban school districts, including Philadelphia, are adopting or considering changes to how students enroll in schools; one way to do this is to implement a “common enrollment” process for student placement.
Proposed policies include changing how students are assigned to schools, having all students complete a single application on a common timetable when applying to either School District of Philadelphia schools, charter schools, or both.
The forum will review proposed ideas for policy changes and examine the implications for students and families, examine if this makes sense for high schools only or all school levels and much more. Come and share what factors you think should be considered and emphasized to ensure fairness and simplicity, as well as to improve opportunities for all students.
